The airport has taxi services and a rail connection. Public-transport routes and timetables can change, so use current official information on the day you travel rather than relying on a timetable copied into a dental website.

If you are carrying luggage, arriving late, travelling after a long flight or attending an appointment shortly after landing, a direct taxi or pre-arranged licensed transfer may be the simplest option.

Do not assume that a private transfer is included simply because you are travelling for dental treatment.

If transfer assistance is part of your confirmed arrangements, the details should be provided to you in writing before arrival. If it is not confirmed, plan to use a licensed taxi, public transport or another transport service of your choice.

A transfer, hotel or travel service is described as included only when it has been specifically confirmed for that booking.

Have these details ready:

• airport and terminal;
• flight number;
• arrival date and scheduled time;
• number of travellers;
• luggage requirements;
• accommodation address;
• whether you are travelling directly to the practice or to your accommodation first.

If your flight changes, update the transport provider directly where possible.

For treatment days, reliability matters more than finding the theoretically shortest route.

Allow extra time for:

• weekday traffic;
• unfamiliar streets;
• finding the correct entrance;
• completing any registration or medical-history information before the appointment.

Do not plan to arrive from the airport only minutes before an important examination or surgical appointment.

İzmir has rail, metro, tram, ferry and bus services across the city. The most convenient combination depends on where you are staying.

For current information, use official transport sources or live mapping on the day of travel. The airport itself has a train-station connection, while municipal bus services cover many parts of İzmir.

If you are recovering from treatment, public transport may be less comfortable than a direct journey. Choose based on how you feel and the instructions you have been given.

A rental car can be useful if you plan to travel outside central İzmir, but it is not necessary for every dental visit.

Consider whether:

• your accommodation has parking;
• you will feel comfortable driving after a long flight;
• a procedure or medication could make driving inappropriate;
• you actually need a car on treatment days.

Never drive if medication, sedation or your clinical condition makes it unsafe.

Do not place your final review so close to departure that there is no room to deal with an adjustment.

The sensible interval depends on what was done. A routine restorative check and a surgical review are not the same. If the treatment plan changes during the trip, your departure timing may also need to change.
