YOUR VISIT TO İZMİR
Discover İzmir around your dental appointments
Keep sightseeing flexible around appointments and recovery. A short waterfront walk or a nearby stop in Balçova may fit a light day; longer trips need a free day and should wait until you know your treatment schedule and any activity restrictions.
The important part is the order. Dentistry comes first. Your sightseeing plan should stay flexible enough to change if you need rest, a review appointment or a different treatment stage than expected.
Start close to the practice
Dt. Ezgi Aydın's dental practice is in Balçova. If you have treatment on the same day, nearby plans are usually more sensible than crossing the whole city.
Balçova is known for its green hills, thermal area, cable car and the nearby İnciraltı waterfront. The official Visit İzmir guide also highlights the district's walking routes and views over the Gulf.
For a light day between appointments, the local area can be enough. You do not need to turn every free hour into a sightseeing schedule.
Kordon and Alsancak
If you want to feel the everyday rhythm of İzmir, the waterfront is an easy place to start. Kordon runs along the bay through central İzmir and is one of the city's best-known walking areas. Alsancak adds cafés, restaurants and busy pedestrian streets nearby.
This is the kind of plan that can be kept short. Walk as much as you comfortably can, stop when you need to, and avoid building a rigid timetable around a treatment day.

Kemeraltı, Konak and the historic centre
Kemeraltı is the city's historic bazaar district. Around it are Konak Square, the Clock Tower, old inns, places of worship and streets that reflect İzmir's long commercial history.
The area rewards slow exploration rather than a checklist. If you have recently had oral surgery, remember that long walks, heat and eating on the move may not suit the advice you were given that day.
Tarihi Asansör and the Gulf view
The Historic Elevator is one of the classic viewpoints over İzmir Bay. It can fit into a shorter city-centre outing and is close to Dario Moreno Street.
For international patients, this kind of flexible stop usually makes more sense than booking a full-day tour before you know how you will feel after treatment.
Urla when you have more time
Urla sits west of the city and has a slower coastal character. It is known for its shoreline, old settlements, food culture and nearby villages.
Consider Urla on a free day rather than between tightly spaced appointments. If your treatment includes surgery, a long laboratory appointment or a next-day review, keep the day nearby instead.
Çeşme and Alaçatı
Çeşme and Alaçatı are among the best-known coastal destinations in the province. They make more sense when your schedule gives you a genuinely free day and your dentist has not advised rest or restrictions that would make the journey uncomfortable.
Do not book a non-refundable excursion simply because your first treatment estimate appears to leave a day free. Clinical plans can change after examination.
Ephesus as a longer day out
Ephesus is outside central İzmir and needs a more deliberate day plan. If you want to include it in the same trip, place it on a day that is clearly separate from treatment and review appointments.
Long travel, extensive walking and summer heat can matter after surgery. Ask before committing if your dental treatment involves extraction, implant surgery, sinus-related procedures or another intervention with post-operative restrictions.
Food and dental treatment
İzmir is a food city, but your mouth may not be ready for every local speciality immediately after treatment.
Temporary restorations, fresh surgical sites, sensitivity or bite adjustments can change what is comfortable to eat. Follow the instructions given for your own treatment rather than choosing food around a travel itinerary.
Build the city around the clinical plan
A simple rule works well:
- keep treatment days light;
- leave space after surgical appointments;
- avoid placing your final dental review immediately before your flight;
- use genuinely free days for longer trips;
- stay flexible if the clinical plan changes.
The aim is not to sell you a holiday package. It is to help you make sensible use of the time you already have in İzmir.
